Saturday's Pin Event

Hey everyone, my pin signing this weekend went really well! Thank you so much to those of you who might be reading that came to support me and pick up a pin or two of mine despite to rain and gloom that morning! I was really surprised to see the crowd. While walking through the store to the tables they had set up for us to sign at, I glanced outside and saw a line at the 1/2 way mark of the World of Disney store! Now I'm not sure if anyone knows or has been to this store before but it's a looooong store. Just seeing that was really surprising especially since I had heard that releases of Cast Create-a-Pins were usually less attended than regular pin events. But more surprising was that I heard later that the line I saw actually extended nearly to the end of the building! Now I know it wasn't just for me but it was really amazing to see such a turnout and a wonderful experience that I hope to have again someday (I'm working on my design for the next Create-a-Pin contest now!) Here're some pictures from the event, thanks so much again to those of you who came!Even my fiance stopped by...The three artists together again...Here's a close-up of the pin itself. (Sorry for the poor quality, because of the size and the metal I was having trouble scanning and photographing it.)Afterwards we took some more pictures of all 3 of us pin design winners and they gave me this framed picture of my design which includes my original concept I submitted, an early color version of the pin and an artist proof copy of the pin, along with 4 other artist proofs of the pin. I was so thrilled! It was more than I had expected!I haven't taken it out of the wrapping as of yet, unfortunatly I don't have a place to hang it right now...

Hey everybody,
Don't forget to come down to World of Disney this Saturday to pick up the Haunted Mansion pin that I created. The number of pins made is limited to only 500 so it will probably sell out this weekend, maybe even that same day! I'll be there along with the other two pin design winners signing pins from 9:30-11:30am this Saturday the 24th. See you there!

Hey Everybody, I'm not sure if anyone even stops by my blog anymore but for the few of you who do I wanted to let you know about a few cool things there were going on. First and foremost my girlfriend and I are now fiance and fiancee! Eunice and I have known right from the beginning that we were right for each other, but now we're really committed towards working on a future together!Also the other news is about the pin design that I mentioned a while back that Disney is making. Here's my original drawing:

The pin will be sold at The World of Disney in Downtown Disney on January 24th and will be limited to only 500 being made at $10.95. Stop on by to chat and come pick one up! The other two winners and I will be there signing the pins that morning. and these Create-a-Pins usually sell out within the first week of their release so don't wait too long! More info here!

Yes, you guys are right, I need to post more of my artwork. Well here's something new: October's Sketch of the Month I made for the store I work at in Disney's California Adventure. Come on down to Off the Page during the whole month of October and come pick up a Brian Growe original! Nice! As always, more info is at the Disney gallery Website!

Also, I talked over my pin design with the artist who will be sculpting my Create-A-Pin design at Disneyland. It sounds like the pin will be ready and I'll be having a signing for this pin in January. When it gets a little bit closer to the release I've been told it will be alright to show my original design here, so I'll post that sometime soon too.

Well, it's taking a long time but I'm actually starting to get some of my artwork out there finally. It's just a little thing, but I'm excited about it. Every year where I work (at Disneyland) they have a contest to pick designs from those of us who work there to make into new trading pins that some people go real real crazy for. This year one of my designs was picked! Yay! I'm not sure what the exact timeline will be for producing the pin til the release date, but when it's released they usually have a whole event where the 3 of the people who won have a signing. I've never done something like that before so I'm kinda nervous about that part though. I just can't wait to see it done, I'm really excited! I'll have to find out if I can post my original concept, but if I can I'll do it right away!

My good friend, Amber Dempsey Shikuma, has a wonderful new website up where you can view her work and when you see how awesome she is I know you're all gonna wanna hire her to do your wedding sculpture or maquette. At The Con 08

I finally have a few moments after San Diego's Comic Con this year to post some pictures. I didn't take as many as last year, but that's cause I was having a lot of fun! It was good hanging out with the entire Hard Ei8ht group and seeing a lot of friends I hadn't seen for a while. We sold some books, I picked up a lot of books (I gotta take a picture of my loot huh?), went to a couple cool panels and met a lot of nice people. Masters of the Ei8ht-iverse

Believe it or not this mob is actually a line to get into Hall H at the convention center. The largest room there, where the most popular panels would be held. In was in this crowd mainly to see the Heroes panel then to see the sneak peaks of Disney's Bolt and Pixar's Up. I got in, whoo hoo!

Looking down at San Diego from one of the lines I stood in to see a MST3K panel. It stretched all the way upstairs around the building but I somehow got into this panel too!

The Dragon Emperor's Army was on hand to quell any rebellion should it arise at The Con.

Check me out on the Disney Gallery Website! Sweeeeet! I'm really excited about this, I don't think I've had my own little corner on the Disney Website before! This part of The Disney Gallery website is primarily meant to introduce guests to us artists working at Off the Page in California Adventure of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim and show off our "Sketches of the Month". So if you check back at this site every month you should see what each one of us 3 artists are gonna be selling each month. I'm essentially finished with my Hard Ei8ht story now so I have time to work on a lot of other things. Good timing too since I'm working some more hours drawing at the D-land for the Spring/Easter Break that's coming up. I'm also just getting back into 3D animation so maybe I'll have some of that to post sometime soon.

First of all this, if you remember earlier I was working on this in ink before I got caught up in work and Ei8ht. I started doing the color for this a while back but it's new to you guys right?
Hopefully I can finish this someday, but for now, some doodles from work:
I've always wanted to post a page straight out of my sketchbook like you see so many people do. This is just the first time I've had a page of sketches I thought was half-way decent enough to do so with.

I can't believe I forgot how much fun it was just to cafe sketch. So tonight I make some more doodles perhaps?

Coolest. Plane. Ever.

I've always loved Porco Rosso and his plane. Somehow I found the time over the last year to, little by little, cut, sand, sculpt and glue together a handmade model of Porco's Savoia plane (as well as all that to a couple fingers too). It's not entirely complete yet, with a few little details still missing but I felt I wanted to share my progress to all of you anyways. Enjoy!
Here's me and The Main Pig-Man himself at Anime Expo from a couple years back. I hope he would be proud of me! If not I guess I could work in Santa's Workshop... Dang, I have been losing some weight since then!

Hi all,
Sorry to being so negligent to my poor blog and all of you here. Been working hard at Disneyland, getting more involved at my church, working hard on my animation reel and spending as much as I can with the love of my life! Well, here's a few goodies with my apologies, enjoy!

For starters, why should the people at Nickelodeon be the only people to enjoy this privilege? Direct from our Nickelodeon show in Burbank California, here's a tiny taste of what's to come in Hard Ei8ht Vol 2.And here's some doodles from Disneyland. Most from just before Christmas. Now, I know a lot of people wonder what goes on behind the scenes at Disneyland, but it's really not that exciting, mostly a lot of sleepy looking people watching TV, eating or checking their cell phones.
But as you can see here there is the occasional character without it's head. (Parents, cover your children's eyes)
For a while now I've thought it would be funny to make a Scrubs-ish show about us Cast Members at Disney. Looking at these again makes me really wish we could do something like that.
